“What is it, Rebecca? You seem upset,” he replied, his tone gentle but guarded. Rebecca took a deep breath, steeling herself for what she was about to say. “I can’t shake this feeling that something isn’t right between you and Anna,” she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper.
Andrew’s expression hardened, and he rose from his seat, his hands clenched into fists at his sides. “What do you mean? Anna is like a mother to me. There’s nothing inappropriate going on,” he retorted defensively.
