John Wayne – California – $3.95 Million
The late John Wayne spent about fourteen years living in a Newport Beach mansion. Wayne treasured the Wild Goose, a World War II minesweeper converted into a private yacht, which he sailed around Newport into Alaska and even Mexico. Meanwhile, Irwin and Margaret Much, who bought Wayne’s 4,500-square-foot mansion in 2011, did some renovations on it. They retained some of its original features, including the parquet flooring but chose to get rid of some elements like replacing the backyard pool with a fountain and a fire pit. The Much couple, who had bought the house for $1.775 million, listed it in 2013 for $3.95 million.
