Dr. Morgan’s return
Dr. Morgan returned with a pale face and asked to speak to Grace and Tom privately. “Can we talk in the next room?” he asked, his voice shaky.
Grace’s heart sank, knowing serious news was coming. “Sure,” Tom replied, trying to sound confident. They followed Dr.
Morgan to a small, adjacent office, the children watching them intently. As the door closed behind them, Grace felt a knot tightening in her stomach.
